Naomi has appeared as sole counsel for the defence:

  • in the County Court as trial counsel; on indictable pleas; appeals; subpoena applications for confidential communications in sexual offence matters; applications for compensation under the Sentencing Act; bail applications; and
  • in the Magistrates' Court in committals, contests and bail applications as well as all aspects of summary matters.

Naomi has appeared as junior counsel for the defence in two high profile sex offence trials and drug trials in the County Court and is briefed to appear as junior counsel in defending a number of people smuggling trials commencing in May 2012. 

Naomi has also appeared as junior counsel for the Crown in a series of back to back sex offence trials (6 months) in the County Court.

Naomi has appeared as counsel for the prosecution (the Office of Prosecution and the Office of Corrections):

  • In the County Court in pleas and appeals against sentence.
  • in the Magistrates’ Court in committals, contests and plea hearings.

Naomi has also appeared as sole counsel for the applicant:

  • in the Magistates’ Court on applications for Stalking Intervention Orders on behalf of employers, government agencies and private individuals.

As a solicitor Naomi has also:

  • achieved accreditation as a Criminal Law Specialist from the Law Institute of Victoria - August 2008;
  • worked as a Solicitor-Advocate and ultimately as an acting Managing Lawyer managing one of the three Criminal Law Division teams;
  • worked as a solicitor at the OPP in the Circuit and General Prosecutions sections; and
  • worked as an articled clerk then legal counsel at the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) where she managed a portfolio of common law and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal files for both the TAC and Victorian WorkCover Authority. 

Naomi signed the bar roll in November 2008 and is interested in all areas of criminal practice, WorkSafe matters, personal injury law and occupational health and safety matters.
