PROFILE

Sarah Mansfield was admitted to practice in 1999 and joined the Bar in 2007. 

Sarah principally practices in Family Law.  Her work in the Family Law jurisdiction covers all aspects of parenting matters; particularly complex matters concerning a broad range of risk factors, relocation applications and Hague Convention matters.  Sarah has a respected reputation for her work appearing on behalf of the Independent Children’s Lawyer. Her practice extends to property matters. Sarah is also an AIFLAM Accredited Mediator.

Aside from appearing in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Sarah accepts briefs in mediations and dispute resolution conferences.  Sarah has many years of circuit experience, particularly in Geelong and Bendigo.  She also appears in Intervention Order applications.

Prior to joining the bar, Sarah spent two years working as a solicitor in London in the United Kingdom within her chosen specialty of Family Law. 

Upon admission to practice, Sarah worked at Victoria Legal Aid in the Family Law section, acting for clients and providing duty lawyer services at the Family Court and Federal Magistrates Court in Melbourne and in Intervention Order proceedings at the Melbourne Magistrates Court.  In 2005, Sarah was instrumental in establishing an alternate duty lawyer service (the Family Law Legal Service) at the Family Law courts.

Sarah is a member of the Family Law Bar Association and the Women’s Barristers Association.
