Hetty accepts briefs in all areas of criminal, quasi-criminal, public and administrative law. 

Prior to joining the Bar Hetty was a senior solicitor at Victoria Legal Aid where she worked for four years as a solicitor advocate. She also practised in the Northern Territory for over three years where she worked for the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency and for the Central Land Council in Alice Springs. 

Hetty has a broad range of experience in serious criminal matters in the Magistrates Court, Children’s Court, County Court and Supreme Court including contested hearings, County Court and Supreme Court (NT) plea hearings, committals, sentence appeals and Supreme Court bail applications. She also has experience appearing in VCAT in tenancy matters and the AAT in social security matters.

Hetty has worked extensively in Native Title and matters arising under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 including the negotiation of mining and access agreements and sacred site protection. She also has experience in environmental protection matters and the Australian Carbon Credit Unit Scheme.

Hetty holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Monash University and speaks fluent French.

Hetty is reading with Aggy Kapitaniak and her senior mentors are Thomas Keely SC and Julian P McMahon AC SC.
