PROFILE

Evan has a wealth of experience in criminal, quasi-criminal, and public law and accepts briefs in these and related areas.  

Immediately before coming to the Bar, Evan worked for the Office of the Special Investigator where he assisted the Special Investigator, the Hon Mark Weinberg AO KC, on complex legal issues relating to the investigation of allegations of war crimes committed in Afghanistan. 

Prior to this, Evan was a senior solicitor with the Police Advisory Branch of the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office, and a solicitor with Victoria’s Office of Public Prosecutions. He commenced his legal career as an Associate to the Honourable Justice Maree Kennedy in the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria. 

Evan also has significant international legal experience. This includes working as a Legal Consultant for the United Nations at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (the ‘Khmer Rouge Tribunal’) and working with the Solomon Islands’ Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as part of an Australian Government-funded development program.     

Evan holds postgraduate degrees in Law and International Relations. As a student, he received numerous awards and honours, and was appointed Editor of the Monash University Law Review.  

Evan has held a high-level AGSVA security clearance and accepts briefs requiring a security clearance. 

Evan is reading with Dr Gideon Boas and his senior mentor is Patrick Doyle SC.
