PROFILE

Cath Devine has extensive experience in all areas of Family Law, with a particular interest and expertise in Child Support advice and advocacy.  Cath has appeared as junior counsel and on appeal on numerous occasions.  Cath has a reputation as a fearless and forceful advocate for her clients, and also on behalf of children when she appears as Counsel for the Independent Children's Lawyer.

Cath is a qualified mediator and arbitrator.  Cath has been an Adjunct Lecturer in the Masters of Laws program at the College of Law.

Awards

  • Cath was awarded the honour of the Family Law Lawyer of the Year, Best Lawyers, 2022
  • Cath completed her Masters of Laws (Family Law) at the College of Law, and was awarded the Sandra Paull Memorial Prize as the student with the highest average mark in that course in 2015. 
  • Cath was nominated for the Women in Law Awards 2013, and was selected as a finalist in the Sheahan Lock Junior Barrister's Award, for the best female barristers in Australia under 10 years call.
  • Cath was awarded the inaugural Best Advocate Award in the Hanover Mooting Competition, held by the Law Institute of Victoria, in 2002.
