Pat Karnis was admitted to practice in August 2009 and signed the Bar Roll in November 2010. Prior to that she was a business owner for 15 years. In September 2009 she took up a position as a solicitor with a boutique family law firm.

She worked as a family lawyer in all aspects of family law, including matters affecting the welfare of children and the rights and responsibilities of parents. She has experience in handling a wide range of property & financial matters, children’s issues, divorce, intervention orders, family violence and mediation.

As part of her practice Pat has participated in mediation and conciliation and has established a reputation for assisting clients to reach agreement in highly conflictual circumstances and for sound strategic advice.

Pat has experience in family law advocacy having appeared in property & children’s matters, recovery proceedings, relocation proceedings, divorce proceedings, appeals and is a nationally accredited mediator. She has had an ongoing association with Deakin University for a number of years and currently consults there as a law tutor and lecturer.

She has been a regular volunteer at the Barwon Community Legal Centre. You will hear Pat on Radio 93.9 Bay FM from time to time discussing family law.

Pat is available for court appearance work, paperwork and to appear as a mediator in all matters.
