Daniel Cash is a trial advocate specialising in family law, criminal law and intervention order proceedings.

Family Law

For almost a decade, Daniel has been representing clients in Courts exercising jurisdiction under the Family Law Act (1975) in relation to both parenting and property proceeedings. He provides specialist advice and representation to his clients in both interim and final hearings.

Criminal Law

In the criminal law jurisdiction Daniel appears regularly in privately funded trials, appeals, pleas, committal hearings and summary contested hearings. He has appeared in the High Court of Australia and in the Victorian Supreme Court of Appeal in appeals against sentence.

Intervention Orders:

Daniel has particular expertise in representing clients applying for and defending intervention order proceedings pursuant to the Family Violence Protection Act (Vic) and the Personal Safety Intervention Orders Act (Vic). His involvement in family law matters often commences with dealing with intervention order proceedings pursuant to the Family Violence Protection Act (Vic). As such, he has a firm grasp of the interplay between intervention orders, family law proceedings and criminal liability.

In addition, Daniel also appears in civil disputes in the Magistrates’ and County Courts and in mediations.

Daniel is a member of the executive of 'Lawyers for Forests' and provides pro-bono representation for forest activists in the criminal law jurisdction.

Prior to signing the bar roll Daniel gained substantial experience as a solicitor/advocate in the criminal and family law jurisdictions at the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service (V.A.L.S) in Victoria and the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (N.A.A.J.A) in the Northern Territory. He has particular expertise in representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. He has also worked in general law suburban firms and has a broad understanding of diverse areas of law.
