John Champion S.C.(LL.B., LL.M., Dip. Crim., Diploma in Corporations & Securities Law) was admitted to practice in Victoria in 1976 and signed the Bar Roll in 1977. He is also admitted to practice in NSW, Tasmania and the ACT. John has practiced widely in all areas of the criminal law, for both the prosecution and the defence. In 1999 he was appointed In-House Counsel to the Melbourne Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions where he was engaged in conducting prosecutions for that office, particularly appearing in trials and appeals concerning major drug, fraud and corporations offences. John was appointed Senior Counsel in 2003 and returned to practice at the Bar in 2005. In 2006 he was appointed Vice-Chair of the Criminal Bar Association of Victoria.
