Jordan practises in commercial litigation, with a focus on corporations law, insolvency and bankruptcy. He also practices in criminal law, with a focus on white-collar crime and Corporations Act offences. 

Since coming to the bar Jordan has appeared in a number of commercial hearings; 

  • before the Federal Court of Australia -  in applications to wind up a company in insolvency; in creditor's petitions for sequestration orders; in public examinations of a bankrupt; in an application for default judgement in a Personal Property Securities Act 2009 matter. 
  • before the Supreme Court of Victoria - in an application to wind up a company on just and equitable grounds; in an application for substituted service.
  • before the County Court of Victoria - responding to an application for a stay on execution of judgment.
  • before the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) - successfully defending  a company director against allegations of breach of directors duties and insolvent trading in a show cause disqualification hearing under s206F of the Corporations Act 2001.                                                                                                                                              

Immediately before coming to the bar Jordan was Senior Associate to the Honourable Justice Sifris of the Supreme Court of Victoria. He assisted in the management of the Corporations List of the Commercial Court, and worked on commercial disputes covering a broad range of practice areas, including;

  • Corporations law (including shareholder and director disputes, wind ups, and the provision of judicial advice to liquidators); 
  • Contractual disputes; 
  • Trusts; 
  • Banking and finance; and
  • Property disputes (real property and PPSA security interests)  

Jordan comes to the bar with 5 years' experience as a solicitor-advocate. He has extensive experience appearing as counsel in both the Magistrates' and County courts. In a criminal context, he has appeared for both the prosecution and the defence in both State and Commonwealth offences, and has appeared in appeals, bail applications, pleas and contested hearings.

Jordan welcomes briefs in all commercial and criminal matters. 

He is reading with Peter Fary, and his senior mentor is Jonathan Evans QC.

Jordan is a member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA).
