Prior to coming to the Bar, Vanessa Plain practised in the banking/financial services and commercial litigation departments at Thomsons Lawyers, Melbourne. Vanessa also holds a Master of Laws (Melb) with a focus on banking, securities and corporate law.

Vanessa has broad experience acting for corporate and institutional clients including major banks, insurance companies, stock brokers, insolvency practitioners, company directors and professional athletes.

Vanessa has regularly advised in litigious matters dealing with contractual disputes, corporations law, directors duties, trade practices, banking & securities trading litigation, corporate insolvency, bankruptcy and retail leases. She has conducted proceedings in the Magistrates’, County, Supreme and Federal Courts, the Supreme Court of Appeal and VCAT.

Vanessa tutors French, German and Japanese to VCE and university level students and is available to draft advice in French and German.
