Cam Truong is a commercial barrister practicing in all areas of commercial law, with particular expertise in trade practices and consumer protection, competition law, corporations and securities law. His practice also includes insolvency, property law including residential and retail tenancies, defamation, contract law, equity and trusts, administrative law and judicial review.

Cam regularly advises and appears in the Supreme and County Courts in trials and urgent interlocutory applications.

Cam is currently briefed in a number of large commercial Supreme Court proceedings including a complex trusts dispute between members of an Australian-Malaysian family over assets in Australia, a contractual dispute between two major energy companies and a defamation proceeding involving prominent members of the Korean community in Victoria.  Cam is also currently briefed in a significant trade practices dispute concerning Standards Australia in the Federal Court.

Recently, Cam was Junior Counsel in a number of high profile proceedings in the Supreme Court including six civil penalty proceedings brought by ASIC (led by Norman O' Bryan SC), against former officers of AWB, which included a successful Court of Appeal decision (led by Michael Colbran SC), and a class action brought by investors in various managed investment schemes operated by the Timbercorp Group (led by Julian Burnside QC).

Cam is currently undertaking a doctoral thesis examining the effectiveness of Australia's trade practices laws.  He completed his Masters of Laws at Melbourne University obtaining an Upper Second Class Honours average. At undergraduate level, Cam was the winner of the Corrs Chambers Westgarth Prize for best result in the subject "Restrictive Trade Practices". Prior to signing the Bar Roll, Cam worked as a commercial lawyer and litigator at Corrs Chambers Westgarth (with a particular focus on competition and trade practices law) and Slater and Gordon, working in all jurisdictions.

Cam is a founding member of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association (AALA – AALA is the first incorporated association in Australia to focus on the growing number of Asian Australian lawyers in the legal profession, as well as other lawyers with an interest in Asia.
