Matthew Harvey practises in commercial, corporations and insolvency, and maritime matters. He appears regularly in the Supreme Court, Federal Court and Court of Appeal. He has appeared on a number of occasions in the High Court, the Supreme Court of New South Wales and in international and domestic arbitrations.
Commercial Matters His practice includes matters involving contract law, trade practices, restitution and equity. He advises about the interpretation of contracts and security instruments. He acts in proceedings involving international trade.
Corporations and Insolvency Matters He is briefed in corporate insolvency matters. He is experienced in running preference actions and winding up applications. He acts for and advises liquidators and receivers. He is engaged in matters involving directors' duties.
Maritime Matters He runs proceedings involving the arrest of ships, charter parties and contracts of affreightment, marine insurance, ship broking, bills of lading, and injury to stevedores. He is the Australian Vice President of the Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand. He is a member of the MLAANZ panel of arbitrators.
He has written articles for the Australian Law Journal, the Australian Business Law Review, the Companies and Securities Law Journal, The Arbitrator & Mediator and the Law Institute Journal.
